What is an electronic shelf label (ESL)?
An electronic label with an e-paper display that replaces the paper price tag on the shelf and is updated wirelessly from a central server. The moment the price changes at the till it changes on the shelf, with no staff walking the aisle. The system has four layers: the label, the access points, the label management software and the source system (ERP/POS).

Manufacturers publish figures between 4 and 10 years depending on the model. These are not commitments but the output of a set of assumptions: usually one full refresh per day, room temperature, no LED use and a stable connection. Life shortens as daily refreshes rise, colour count increases, LEDs are used and the environment gets colder. Ask for a written estimate based on your own scenario.

Is using electronic labels legal in Türkiye?
Yes. The Price Label Regulation explicitly allows a price label to be written, digital or electronic; no separate permit or notification is required. However the mandatory information (country of production, distinguishing feature, tax-inclusive sale price, unit price, validity date) must appear on the electronic label too, and must be in Turkish. Make sure your template fits these fields legibly.
Regulation and checklistWhat must be shown as the "previous price" in a discount?
The lowest price applied in the ten days before the discount started. The rule prevents raising a price just before a sale and calling it a discount. On electronic labels this means the system must have access to at least ten days of price history. Ask during the quote stage how many days of history the software keeps and whether the template can read it.

How much does an ESL project cost?
This platform does not publish exact prices, because manufacturers do not publish list prices and real pricing depends on volume, project and exchange rate. We show a four-step price band instead. The label unit price alone is not a budget: access point hardware, mounting and cabling, software licence or SaaS subscription, integration work, first-time pairing labour, mounting accessories and spare stock all belong in the calculation.
Budget estimatorHow quickly does the investment pay for itself?
Three inputs decide it: labels per store, weekly rate of price change and staff time spent on price changes. Any payback figure quoted without those three numbers is a guess. The ROI calculator on this site takes them from you and uses a deliberately conservative model — it does not inflate assumptions to make the numbers look good.
ROI calculatorWhat is the real gain over paper labels?
Three items are measurable: less staff time spent on price changes, savings on paper and toner, and fewer losses from price mismatches between the till and the shelf. A fourth — margin gains from dynamic pricing — is often presented but is the least provable. We suggest building your business case so it stands without it. For chains the real gain is usually this: showing the same price in hundreds of stores at the same moment.

How long does installation take?
A single-store pilot typically takes 4–8 weeks, most of which is data preparation and integration rather than mounting hardware. During rollout, per-store time becomes predictable after the first wave. The most common causes of delay are incomplete product data in the source system (country of origin and unit price fields), mounting accessories that do not fit the shelf profile, and corporate network or security approvals.
From pilot to rolloutWill it work with my existing ERP/POS?
Most ESL platforms support at least one of file-based transfer (CSV/XML), a REST API or direct database reads, and almost any system can be fed through one of those. The real question is not the connection but data quality: unique product codes, a short name field that fits the label, a computable unit price, country of origin, and promotional and regular prices held in separate fields. Run these checks before integration starts.
ERP/POS integrationDo they work in freezers and cold rooms?
Yes, with freezer-class models. Standard labels are typically documented for 0 °C to +40 °C; freezer-class models go down to −25 °C and below. Three things to watch: low temperature reduces battery capacity, opening and closing cabinet doors causes condensation (the IP rating matters) and standard plastic mounting accessories become brittle in the cold. Treat the cold chain section as a sub-project of its own.
Cold chain solutionsWhat happens when a label fails?
Two numbers should be committed in the contract: the expected annual failure rate and the working days between a fault being reported and the replacement being fitted. These two matter more to daily operations than the battery-life figure. Also ask how quickly the system notices a label that could not be updated and how it reports it — "update sent" and "label changed" are different things, and a system that cannot show the difference can display a wrong price silently.
Questions to ask in a quoteBu platform
Does this platform sell products?
No. This site does not sell or install electronic shelf labels and accepts no commission, listing or promotion fees from any manufacturer. Products are ranked by how well they match your needs; money does not decide the order. The list of solution partners in Türkiye is free and alphabetical. Requests from the quote form are routed to every option that fits your scope, with no manufacturer given priority.
Our data policyWhere does the technical data come from and how reliable is it?
Every product's technical values come from the manufacturer's datasheet, product page or user manual, and the source is listed on the product page. Fields the manufacturer does not publish are estimated from class averages and clearly flagged as "estimated" — never hidden. If you believe a value is wrong, send us the correct one with its source; we update the record free of charge when a verifiable source is provided.
